Swallowed by the sky
What would happen if we penetrated the atmosphere so deeply that the sky was no longer blue?
Swallowed by the Sky is a ceramic object/performance that sonifies the intimacy of living and sharing space with one another. The ceramic instrument mediates and transforms the movement of air into an audible sound, activated by the artist and a partner following the prompt:
Maintain airflow as you would keep a ball up in the air.
The performance emphasizes air and sound as elements through which to understand the living experience as mutually containing and being contained by one another. This work is a proposition to grapple with the negotiations of being part and whole.
To breathe is to be immersed in a medium that penetrates us with the same intensity as we penetrate it. – Emanuele Coccia
