The Third Sex contends with romantic notions of nature; its associations with the sublime and nuanced tensions related to gendered representations of nature. The work is positioned to challenge the enduring stereotypes and classical traditions surrounding the concept of a "landscape" and its associated gender. This living sculpture is composed of composting cultures, positioned as metaphors to understand gender as a byproduct of cultures and to catalyze the complexity of gender against porous bodies.
